OCTOBER 24 2014

Radical Tehran Contemporary And Experimental Music Festival / Milad Tower
09:30 AM - 10:00 PM

Live Coding / Improvisation in SuperCollider, Pure Data And Korg Gadget based on the Chinese scales.

When a person looks at or listens to something, their eyes and ears pursue things, they get stirred up, only to stop when things are gone. This activity and rest are all subjects, but the heavenly ruler becomes their slave. This is living with demons. But now if you make yourself live with a human being in all activity and rest, this human being is the heavenly ruler, who is a real human being. If when he moves, one moves with him, then the movement is the Heavenly root. When he rests, one rests with him; this is the rest of the moon cavern. Even when he alternates movement and rest for no clear reason just go along with him. When he rises and falls, rise and fall with him. That is what is called going to and fro between the root of Heaven and the moon cavern without occupying oneself with other things. (Tai Yi Jin Hua Zong Zhi / Part 8. A Secret Spell for Freedom / Section 9)

. Artzimuth: Bloom of Thymaridas
Thymaridas was a Pythagorean and a number theorist. He gave methods for solving simultaneous linear equations which became known as the 'Bloom of Thymaridas':
"If the sum of n quantities be given, and also the sum of every pair containing a particular quantity, then this particular quantity is equal to 1/(n + 2) of the difference between the sums of these pairs and the first given sum."

"This is the first in a series of compositions created from the BWG software frequencies. I composed a virtual journey through different mind states. The BWG entrains the brain to only one single state at each session, whereas my sound-scene entrains the listener's brain to more than one feeling in each episode. The six different episodes are made from various brain waves which are related to each other logically. Hypothetical listener becomes ready to learn something from his/her meditation, then the piece makes him/her relaxed and increases his/her creativity. Then the trip begins, and after approximately 7 minutes reaches the deepest part. This part lasts around 3 minutes and then leads to the treatment part which helps the brain becomes relaxed again after the deep part. Finally, after a mental refresher section, the awakening part starts which includes four different waves that help relaxation, focus and awakening. This piece is originally composed for Stazione di Topolò for the World TB day 2014 original concert: ToBeContinued 4th edition. I wish someday the human illnesses and diseases could be cured via music, sounds and audible waves." - Honey "vent aitcH Plus" Haq Pazhutan (Feb 2014)

- MP PALINDROMIC FREQUENCIES AND PROCESS VARIATIONS ON "TO BE CONTINUED 2013"
MARCH 2013
"Palindromic Frequencies And Process Variations"
Live Improvisation In Coding Environments,DSP and Software Synthesis.

Improvising with temporal frequencies based on palindromic numbers (eg 33Hz, 44Hz, 88Hz, 404 Hz, 444 Hz, 3883 Hz, etc.) using "Pure Data". Another recent composition primarily called "Brain Music: Axonometric Architectures" is played back as accompaniment and the frequencies created in Pure Data are superimposed on it. These Pure Data generated frequencies are not standard musical pitches, so they create interesting combinations with the evolving synthesizer sequences.

The improvisational aspect exists in all the digital signal processing techniques used in the work, permutations of sequence elements and of course choosing the palindromic numbers to generate frequencies in Pure Data.

About "ToBe Continued" And "World TB Day"

starting at 00.00 till midnight (GMT+1) on March 24th, 2013
Sounds from Stazione di Topolò/Global Health Incubator across the World and back
www.stazioneditopolo.it
ToBe Continued is coming back on March 24th, World TB Day
ToBe Continued is an original concert lasting 24 hours (from 00.00 hours to the midnight of March 24th), during which musicians from many parts of the World will be connected to a website that will broadcast their concerts. During this un-interrupted 24 hour marathon (ToBe Continued... in fact) each musician has at disposal a 30-minute window, thus creating a relay of sounds and rhythms that will range from the different streams of the "new music".
The event, that will cover the 24th of March, World TB Day, in its entirety, is coordinated by Antonio Della Marina, musician and computer music composer, and by Moreno Miorelli, artistic director of the annual gathering "Stazione di Topolò/Postaja Topolove". The whole initiative is under the aegis of the Global Health Incubator, the 'laboratory' established in July 2009 in Topolo' by Mario Raviglione (WHO director of Stop TB Department) to create links between the world of creativity and that of science.
The participating musicians will perform live from many different countries: from USA, Chile, New Zealand, China, Iran, Mexico, Venezuela, Japan, Canada, South Korea, Brazil, Australia, South Africa, Lebanon, Armenia, Turkey and many European countries (Russia, Ukraina, Transnistria, Poland, Bulgaria, Latvia, France, Belgium, Slovenja, Greece, Romania, Portugal, Germany, Italy, Austria, Croatia, Albania, Norway, Finland, Iceland, Far Oer, Hungary, Sweden, Denmark), creating a symbolical tour of the world with 48 stops, starting and ending in Topolò.
Anybody can listen to ToBe Continued...,as long as an internet connection is available, by connecting to the website www.stazioneditopolo.it
This year project also includes several public listening points (bars, libraries, cultural centers, art galleries, shops, all listed on the website) that will broadcast the concert.
Tuberculosis (abbreviated as TB in English and TBC in Italian) is a curable disease. However, it is often underestimated, if not totally ignored, as a major human scourge, although it is globally the leading cause of death from an infectious disease, causing the loss of 1.7 million people each year, 4000 every day, with thousands of unnecessary victims also in the richest countries every year.
The project ToBe Continued...is also part of the initiatives organized by Stop TB Italia to commemorate World TB Day. The event has the patronage of StopTB Partnership and thanks to Eli Lilly MDR-TB Partnership and the collaboration with UNIKUM - Culture Centre of the University of Klagenfurt, that will provide the facilities for the coordination of the concerts.

- JOHN CAGE'S VARIATION I THROUGH WIENER PROCESS
JULY 2012
Sound Performance In East Art Galley
("John Cage Is Happening" Festival, July 20 2012 - Tehran)

Duration: Three Sections Of 9.333 min | Total Time: 28 Min

The live electronics performance of stochastic realization of Cage's Variation I based on a different approach. Cage's score for Variations I consists of one page of written instructions and six transparency squares. The first transparency has twenty-seven different-sized points. The others have five intersecting lines. The
points represent sound events. The lines represent sound parameters: lowest frequency, simplest overtone structure, greatest amplitude, least duration, and earliest occurence. The performer must decide which line represents which parameter. In Pazhutan's realization, the lines are fixed, while the dots are moving as the particles in a Brownian motion. Using the approach of "Pedesis", and influenced by Smoluchowski's theory of Brownian motion, the displacement of particles or in case of John Cage's composition, points, in a given time can be showed on potentiometers of four analogue synthesizers (3 Korg Monotrons and 1 Korg Monotron Space Delay). For the performer, Brownian motion could be viewed as a metaphor of Friedrich Nietzsche's doctrine of "Free Will". Pazhutan also mentioned the influence of Carl Friedrich Gauss, Maurice René Fréchet and Andrey Andreyevich Markov in this realization.

For this performance Pazhutan used only four units of Korg Monotron analogue synthesizers. No computer or digital instruments were used in this realization.

- OPEN FORM #2: OVERHEAR POLYPHONY
Sound Installation In Shirin Art Galley
(The 1st Work In Progress Art Festival - Tehran)
JUNE 5 2012

Honey Haq: Digidesign Protools on digi003+, Mackie MCU, 8 Condenser Mics, 8 Loudspeakers

Duration: 240 Minutes

"Overhear Polyphony" is a live sound composition based on manipulating the captured sound of public, in such a way as to create a sculptural (as opposed to temporal) form of listening experience. Public sound is the determinant factor of this work, which shall be captured from the exterior of the gallery. The interior is the multi-point sound playback space. By adding the sounds together and control the amplitude over time, a controllable orthogonal texture of sound can be created. In each (x,y,z) in the room a different result takes place so the observer/listener can experience each point alone, or the additive synthesized character of the whole sound by changing places in the interior space. This sound structure has a real time mix which randomly emphasizes a channel derived from chance operations. The multi-point sound generation is a technique of sound designing, founded on a sound synthesis method but using playback of sound through several speakers instead of oscillators.

- ORBITAL, SUB-ORBITAL AND INTERPLANETARY TRAVEL
NECESSARY FOR COMPOSITION STUDENTS!
APRIL 2010

Weightlessness, concentration and control not only gives a composer tons of ideas, but also defines the course of those ideas.
So, we just need a function-oriented simulator with an interface focused on maneuvering the spacecraft, rather than a perspective-oriented simulator. Something that make timely travel around the solar system possible.
Hopefully there is a simulator called Orbiter with no cost. It can be downloaded from the web and it works great. For the time being, research institutions are using Orbiter to visualize space missions. Many education centers and science research labs are using Orbiter, so why not a 21st century musician?

THE ORBITER WORKSHOP

Because Orbiter has a record function, a tripper can record all of his actions so it can be shared and discussed in Orbiter Workshop Sessions.
It's also a good idea to compose a piece of sound-scene or music for that.

FROM APRIL 2010 EVERY COMPOSITION STUDENT OF ATELIER OF ELECTRONIC AUDIO ARTS SHALL USE ORBITER FOR AT LEAST 38 MINUTES EVERYDAY.

- MPSG No 1 | OPEN FORM
DECEMBER 2009
Sound Installation in Tehran Aun Gallery
December 22 and 23 2009 | 18:00

AN EXPERIENCE OF MOTION ARCHITECTURE IN TIME
Appearance of stability in an unstable physical frame could be an exit from the abyss that a sober mind expects from the sounds. Time, in contrast to space, is not just the order of material, but the fluid that can incarnate to shape through the order of physical waves. This invisible fluid can be painted with the sounds and therefore experienced. In each point of time an event happens which shares just one thing with the others, and that is synchronicity. No correlation in the alignment of events by meaning needs to have an explanation. Although in this system, architecture of waves is based on the conceptual relationship of events, or the relationship between ideas, and is structured in the logical way of being parallel on the wings of time, lack of the limitation of beginning and the end lets an individual experience every single sound on its own. Each sound element could be the start to make balance to change "time" to "music". Understanding the structural differences and relations is based on the intervals rather than separate elements. The relationships can manifest themselves as simultaneous occurrences that are meaningfully related. The whole structure cannot be experienced by one in just one moment.
Many experiences that are coincidences due to chance in terms of causality suggested the manifestation of parallel events or circumstances in terms of meaning, reflecting this overriding dynamic.
The light that becomes radiant energy, descents but the sound that becomes music ascends. In depth of a black hole is a way to passing through time. In the depth of an abyss, time curves. The diamond's origin is the black carbon, and passing the abyss of time which is colored with sounds shall be a unique experience.
The "Open Form" gets its sonority with the multi-point method. This gigantic sound structure has a real time mix technique, which is based on the generation of sound from different sources.
